BIOGRAPHY

Douglas Shaw Elder is a sculptor, a community arts leader, and an advocate for arts education. He has taught at multiple universities and presented on creativity and innovation on national and international stages, including speaking engagements at the University of Sydney, the Sarkey's Southwest Regional Leadership Conference, the War, Literature and the Arts Conference at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the Oklahoma Governor’s Veteran Services Symposium. Elder has organized large-scale art installations, including projects at the Oklahoma Creativity Forum and the Oklahoma Arts Conference.

Elder was chosen for a travel fellowship in Arezzo, Italy, where he produced a series of works exhibited in Italy and at home. Moreover, Elder has been actively involved in teaching and promoting healing arts education for military veterans. He has traveled to Washington, D.C., as an arts representative and veteran to advocate for the visual arts and the Arts and Military Initiative. Recently, Elder has relocated his studio to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
